The closing party is also LDBA’s moving sale – check out deals on art supplies, furniture, and lots of cool stuff. Starting June 1, LDBA will be located just up the road at 667 Canyon Road (right next to La Boheme) in a new, beautiful, light-filled space. They will continue to offer their handmade watercolors and hold an array of classes including my collage and painting workshops.

Suzanne Sbarge: Anomalies

August 8 – October 6, 2026

SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 5-7pm

I’m so happy to be able to share this new body of work with my community in New Mexico. Created during an intensive residency at Ogden Contemporary Arts in Utah last fall, Anomalies is the culmination of that transformative project. It features human/animal figures in colllage-based paintings, stop-motion animation, cyanotypes, and sculptures exploring dualities and interconnections across species in the context of Antelope Island in Utah’s Great Salt Lake. My show will run concurrently with Russian painter Julia Lambright’s show Light in the Dark.

WORKSHOPS

Afternoon Workshops
at LDBA in Santa Fe

Join me for an afternoon of collage and painting at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts’ new location, a few doors down on Canyon in Santa Fe. In the spirit of the Dada movement, we will get out of our heads and let the unconscious take the lead, while learning technqies for gluing and mixing mediums. Participants will use cut paper materials in combination with LDBA’s handmade watercolors and Flashe, a matt, opaque, water-based paint with extra vibrant tones.

Artmaking Retreat
at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiú

SEPTEMBER 27 – OCTOBER 3, 2026

I’m looking forward to teaching a week-long workshop in collage and painting at Ghost Ranch, a beautiful retreat and education center in northern New Mexico's high desert, near Abiquiú, Georgia O'Keeffe's summer home and inspiration for many of her paintings. We’ll work in the studio and also have time to enjoy the spectacular landscape with walks, hikes, trail rides, and relaxing on the grounds. Lodging and food are available, and I hear the new chef is quite good. All levels welcome. Space is limited.

Cover Story

Thank you to Weber State University’s “The Contemporary West” magazine for publishing my work on the cover and in a 12-page feature in the current issue! The article by Kelly Carper is all about my residency last fall at Ogden Contemporary Arts spanning my first solo museum exhibition and a public art project created with community members on a city bus wrap and billboards.

I recently designed a 96-page catalog for the upcoming exhibition at Albuquerque Museum titled The Woods Before Sunrise: Environment and Place in New Mexico’s Black Contemporary (June 20 – October 18, 2026), curated by William Gassaway and Nikesha Breeze.
